: From the last time i did a backup , my ordhead.DBT file went from 6,040KB to 1,825,826KB. Any suggestions on why this would happen??, no other file seems out of wack.
The ordhead.dbt file contains only the "Comments" on your orders. That file should not change in size suddenly.
I suggest you create a new file from the current one, while having your Order Desk program closed:
1) Open the ordhead.dbf file directly with Approach using the File menu, Open option. Change the Type of File to "dBaseIV" to see that type of file and look in your Order Desk folder for this file. A new APR will open. Ignore any error messages about fields not fitting, etc.
2) Do a Find using the Find button and enter into the ORDNUMBER field. This will get you all records in the database.
3) Under the File menu, select Export Data. Navigate the folder at the top to your Order Desk folder. Give the file a name like ordnew and click the Export button. Select the first field listed (ORDNUMBER) and then scroll down the list to the last field using the scroll bar. Hold down the shift key and select the last field name (PRODNUMBER), then click the Add button. This adds all fields to the export list. Then click the Export button. You now have a copy of ordhead with, hopefully, only the .dbt records that are good.
4) Exit the new APR without saving it.
5) Open your Windows Explorer. Locate your Order Desk folder. Find the three files ordhead.dbf, .adx and .dbt. Rename them to ordold.dbf, ordold.adx and ordold.dbt. Now rename your ordnew files to ordhead.dbf, ordhead.adx and ordhead.dbt. The new ordhead.dbt should be closer to 6,040kb now.
6) Open your Order Desk program and all should be well.
